Launch the Settings app from your Home screen Scroll down in the Settings menu until you see Mail. Choose the program and some limited information is displayed.įor all the details click on ‘Choose defaults for this program’ and you’ll see all the items linked to that program. Before you can manage Mail settings for iPhone and make changes to any of your email accounts, you need to know where to look.
If you want to see what defaults are linked to a particular program go to Control Panel | Default Programs | Set Default Programs. If not, click on Change Program and choose Outlook from the list. It should be set to Outlook (desktop) as shown here.

In Windows 8 go to Control Panel | Default Programs | Set Associations scroll down to near the bottom and find the Mailto entry (URL: Mailto Protocol). That’s where the default program settings have been for many years. File > Options > Outlook Options > Mail > Save Messages > Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder. > Mark Item as read when selection changes.

It’s a button in the main panel, close to the middle of the list. The problem isn’t Outlook, its Windows and something that’s changed the Windows default action for making a new message. Windows 8 users get the (almost) useless Mail app filling their screen. You click on an email address and should get an Outlook new message window. Sometimes Outlook ‘forgets’ that it’s the place for all email work.
